 Dear Families,

WOW!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH for all of the pocket change that has been rolling in last week and this week (we are probably going to win the Purple Penny this year)!!! Of course there is 1 more week to go, so if you haven't had an opportunity to send in pocket change and you would like to, please do!

We have read a great many versions of the Gingerbread Man (boy, girl, baby, etc.) and are enjoying the similarities and differences in the outcome of the gingerbread being.  Talking about the different characters and settings has also been part of this process. You had a gingerbread project come home last week. The ones that have come in are simply delightful! If you haven't completed the project, no worries! Send your Gingerbread person in if/when you do!

We have been learning so much about New Zealand and invasive species with our Go2Science mission! If you are on Facebook you can check out the Go2Science page to keep up to date with what we have been working on.

In math we are working with teen numbers, formation of numbers, making pictures to match the number written, addition and subtraction practice, telling and acting out number stories, counting by 10s,  subitizing practice, and reading graphs.  Our routines at calendar time include; counting to the calendar number of the day, weather observations, ten frames, tallies, money, patterns, solving addition problems, and tracking the number of days we have been in school.

We are learning about the Woolwich Way! The Woolwich Way is made up of 6 qualities that will help us to be the best we can be! (Courtesy- I can use good manners, Compassion-I can help others, Respect- I can treat others kindly, Honesty-I can tell the truth, Responsibility- I can take care of myself and my stuff, Quality- I can do my best even when things are hard)

HAPPY 2024!!!

There is a large packet coming home today. RSU1 has made the policy that some of our snow days will be "remote learning days" in an effort to not add extra days/weeks on at the end of the school year. PLEASE listen to any canceled days that are being considered "remote learning days" and follow this plan: Open the manilla envelope and work on "a few" pages inside. I won't be looking over your shoulders! You know what works for your child and family! There is also a directive page from our specials teachers that offers a variety of engaging activities. I will plan to be available from 9am-noon on any of these days if you need to check in with me (as long as I have power/internet).  Send questions my way if this is not clear.

We have been consumed by an author study of Jan Brett. Her stories and illustrations are perfect for this time of the year! Books Read: The Mitten, The Hat, Who's That Knocking?, The Turnip, Hedgie Blasts Off, Goldilocks and the Three Bears.

In math we are working with teen numbers, formation of numbers, making pictures to match the number written, addition and subtraction practice, counting and number recognition through graphing , and continuing our calendar routines.
